HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welcome to a brand new year!

I know lots of people out there choose to make resolutions.  I haven't, personally, for 2 or 3 years now.  I actually think that the 30x30 is my more attractive solution to making goals and sticking to them ;)

If you have resolutions: good luck!

If you don't, don't fret!

If you are one of those gym-goers who has always gone and is frustrated with newbies, please listen to the wise advice of a great friend of mine who has been doing some body-building the past few years:

"You weren't born at the gym, and somewhere in these new people is the desire to be better and to do what YOU do by staying in shape and healthy and making it a habit.  So instead of scowling at the person trying to figure out how the dang machine works, try helping them out and asking if they're new.  Instead of turning a cold shoulder because they are taking up a treadmill or other machine, make a friend.  Go to a different class.  PUSH YOURSELF the way the "newbies" are pushing THEMSELVES to be better."

I love this advice because I often see a lot of negativity coming from regular gym-goers around New Years about making bets on "how long people will last" or just general complaints about how busy the gym is.  We have to take a positive outlook on this...more people in the world are trying to fight obesity and depression and other ailments that come with inactivity: and who wants to be negative about that?!  :-D

So get out and get on those resolutions.  Don't give up, don't let little stumbles get you down, and try to remember why you wanted that to be your resolution in the first place...that's always a pretty good motivator.

HAPPY NEW YEAR's resolutioning, all!
